AUTONOME KUNST

Immersive video art experience using cathode-ray tube televisions and analog feedback from autonomous circuit-bent artifacts. Undergrad thesis in Innovative Media, Henderson State University.

AUTONOME KUNST explored ideas of autonomously generating art and what the role of a human is/could be. 19 cathode-ray tube televisions and studio monitors were arranged in manner inspired by Nam June Paik. A projector placed a separate loop on walls while a DIY audio transducer converted the raw video signal into audible sound. This intentionally grinding sound was kept, as if it was a “voice of the machine.” Recorded audio from eurorack synthesizers mesh into the grinding noise at high volume, turning the experience into a mechanical, uncomfortable, visual immersive experience, seemlingly only enjoyed by the machines themselves.
